Lon McDurmon's Project
My project was to build a small enclosure approximately six (6) feet tall,
six (6) feet long, and four (4) feet wide. It will be a cage for a Red Tail Hawk named
Nyol Kikeh Ko (Native American for 'Wind and Fire').
This smaller enclosure will allow the director to more easily handle the hawk
while it becomes accustomed to her. This will allow her to use the Hawk for
educational purposes.
The enclosure was built using 2x4 and 2x2 cypress lumber. This was because treated
lumber is toxic to hawks and cypress is naturally waterproof.
The project was completed from July 14 to July 22nd, 2003
