Service Project - National Cemetery
Our Pack placed American Flags on the graves of our fallen Heros at National Cemetery on Jackson Avenue
this past May 30th, Memorial Day. Our Pack took
part in the Opening Ceremonies and Memorial Day Parade,
and then marched to the grave site to place
the flags on the graves.
As you can see from the pictures below, there were representatives from many groups
present for the ceremony, including the branches of the military, the Boy Scouts,
Girl Scouts, and the Scottish Rite.

Cubs from Pack 97 proudly hold the flags.

Cubs and Leaders from Pack 97 in attendance.

The Scottish Rite gears up its band while Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts look on.

Pack 97 marches proudly in the parade.

Bagpipe music fills the air.

Everyone files into their position before the Grandstand.

A Marine rifle detail files in in preparation to give the usual 21 gun salute.
Notice there are 8 men in the detail - A platoon leader to give the orders, and
7 men to fire their rifles 3 times.

A Naval Color Guard lines up to present the colors.

Representatives of the military, as well as families of fallen heroes, populate the grandstand.

An Indian Chief addresses those assembled in sign. Perhaps related to the famed 'wind talkers'.
All in all, it was a good day to be out. With clear, cool weather, the scouts
in Pack 97 placed 880 flags on graves of our fallen heroes by the end of the day.
