Blue and Gold Banquet
The Blue and Gold banquet was a smashing success this year. The program ran a little
long this year, but there was a lot packed into it.
The night started off with a pot-luck supper that was delicious. The Moms in Ole97
really know how to cook!
Then there came some entertainment, when Tony tried to get the Troop to sing the
'New' Ole97 Fight Song. There's a 'history' behind this version, if you care
to Read It.
Mr. Chris got up with the Bears and sang the 'Scouting Bare Necessities', which
brought a chuckle from several folks.
Then came the Awards.
First, the Webelos received their Advancement...

Then, the Bears received their Advancement...

FIVE Bears received their rank patch...

This guy came dressed like a greaser from the fifties...

Next, the Scout Troop held their Court of Honor...

First came Merit Badges...

And then came rank...

To end the night on a thoughtful note, Tony came up and sang one of Baden Powell's
favorite songs...

And the founder himself (in spirit) came to give us a rousing dialogue about the
history of scouting and how 'Scouting for Boys' came to be.
